Del Rio Springs Vineyard offers its Sip and Savor wine and food event from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 6, north of Chino Valley. The event takes place at My Place on 89, 798 S. Highway 89. Food tasting tickets are $7; wine by the glass runs $5-$8.
Hayley Gibbons, the Arizona-born chef and television personality behind the “Help from Hayley” line of gourmet cooking sauces, will join with local winemakers from Del Rio Springs Vineyard.
Their seventh wine, a white pinot blush Frizzante, will be unveiled at the winetasting and food sampling event.
This combined event of the winemakers’ and chef’s talents makes for an afternoon of sipping and savoring in a salute to spring with a wine made for the season.
“The Frizzante is refreshing, soft and sweet with a light spritz that’s perfect for get-togethers this time of year,” Del Rio Springs Vineyard’s co-owner, Rick Skladzien said.
Skladzein, with his wife, Maricor, own the 6-acre vineyard surrounded by the Mingus, Bradshaw and Juniper mountains. It enjoys a climate they liken to Napa Valley.
In addition to the new release, the wine-tasting event will include all seven wines produced by Del Rio Springs Vineyard. Samples of food prepared by Gibbons using the gourmet sauces she produces in Chandler are a perfect accompaniment for the wine.
Gibbons said the food she has planned for the event will demonstrate that cooking with her sauces is “everyday easy, dinner party good.”
Her sauce line – one that includes mushroom marsala, tequila lime, chipotle agave, lemon caper, herbed white wine, poblano, and cognac sauce – enables people to put a restaurant-quality meal on the table in 20 minutes.
“These sauces are made with fine ingredients like real lemon zest and meaty mushrooms,” Gibbons said. “They burst with flavor and are a wonderful complement to the Del Rio Springs wines.”
Wine and sauces will be available for sale to take home.
Jeanne Eric Neimeyer provides a delightful musical background for attendees’ enjoyment throughout the event.
Attendance is limited so early RSVPs are encouraged. Sign up to attend by visiting Del Rio Springs Vineyard on Facebook or by email to email@example.com.
