Kachina Animal Hospital has teamed up with United Animal Friends to offer free spay and neuter surgeries for cats and dogs of prequalified low-income families on World Spay Day, Tuesday, Feb. 28.
Kachina Animal Hospital is located at 850 S. Henrickson Road in Dewey.
Space for the surgeries is limited and because of the great need for this service, the available slots are expected to fill quickly. Interested parties should call UAF at 928-778-2924 to leave their contact information.
Applicants will be considered on a first come, first served basis and should not call the veterinary clinic for an appointment until after they have been approved by UAF.
The partnership of KAH and UAF will benefit people in the quad-city area who, although they want to do the right thing for their pet, cannot afford spay/neuter surgeries, and in some cases, necessary medical care, according to a news release.
The event will help prevent any number of unwanted pregnancies which could potentially contribute to the homeless pet population.
Anyone wishing to donate toward the program should contact Kachina Animal Hospital at 928-772-8225 or UAF at 928-778-2924.
