I read Thursday’s letter, from Chris Jensen of Cottonwood, with great interest and dismay. I believe that Mr. Jensen meant to use the expression, “de jure,” the meaning of which is rightful entitlement, and not “de facto.” Israel’s Parliament, The Knesset, is the country’s law-making body, located in their capitol, Jerusalem. The law-making body of a sovereign country is always in their capitol.
As for the amount of violence caused by President Trump’s action may not be measurable, as Israel is under siege every day ... some minimal violence, some major. Furthermore, this action may do just the opposite of what Mr. Jensen predicts, and in the long run bring the Palestinians to the peace table.
The Czech Republic has followed the lead of the United States, stating that they will also move their embassy to Israel’s capitol, Jerusalem.
