Have you done your Christmas shopping yet? If you’re like me, waiting until the last minute to find the perfect gift for those you love is a tradition we’d all like to avoid, but manage to never do so.
My wife and I spent our Saturday afternoon hopping from store to store in Prescott and Prescott Valley, searching for gifts we can’t wait to see our kids open on Christmas morning.
Playing Santa is always incredible, and it’s something I look forward to every year. Christmas is surprisingly more fun now as a parent, because experiencing my son and daughter’s joy during the holiday season is something special.
This isn’t to downplay my own childhood memories of Christmas, from snow days, hot cocoa, visits to grandma and grandpa’s house, to accidently sawing nearly a foot off the tree stump in an obvious misunderstanding.
And who can forget the famous Bergner tradition of SpaghettiOs and dinner rolls for Christmas dinner. We were a little poor in those days! My sister still manages to cook up a pot of those SpaghettiOs every year, just to relive the memory.
As for those gifts, the “something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read,” motto of shopping is new to me, but my wife had several great ideas for the kids.
But with the kids taken care of, what if you’re having trouble trying to pick out that perfect last-minute gift for a spouse, a friend or a coworker?
Here’s my Top 5 gifts anyone will love:
No. 5: Gift Card
From a gas card for the local pump, a local makeup shop or to their favorite store, gift cards are a great way to give someone a present without having to include the receipt. Even a gift card to Amazon to rent a movie, game or purchase something works for this.
No. 4: Movie Tickets
Who doesn’t like going to the movies? Tickets to the next Star Wars flick or romantic comedy will likely be a big hit for anyone. Throw in a movie cup or T-Shirt for free popcorn, too.
No. 3: Tile Mate
Ever lose your keys, watch or wallet? Tile Mate attaches to keys, fits in the pocket of a purse or wallet and by the simple use of a smart phone, you can find them hassle free without tearing apart the house.
No. 2: Lottery Tickets
This present could backfire, or it could be the greatest gift someone ever receives. You just don’t know, and neither do they, which is why lottery tickets, or those fun scratcher tickets, are a great gift.
No. 1: Wine
One of the best gifts to give at a dinner party, get-together with friends or bring to the family Christmas dinner is a nice bottle of wine.
Search out your local wine connoisseur and find out about all the best wines either made locally, or abroad, place it in a fancy box and enjoy the gift of giving.
Merry Christmas everyone!
