Fernando Rodriguez scored three goals for his first hat trick of the season, Ian Becke had two assists and the Prescott boys’ soccer team earned a 3-2 road win over Moon Valley on Tuesday night.
It is the second win in the last three matches for Prescott (4-3, 0-0 Grand Canyon), which outshot the Rockets 23-7 for the win in Phoenix.
Rodriguez’ goal in the 60th minute gave the Badgers a commanding 3-1 lead. Prescott surrendered a late goal in the 78th minute, but it was too little, too late for a Rockets club that hasn’t won a match all season.
Badgers goalkeeper Tobias Buettner recorded five saves in the win.
Prescott takes a break for Christmas and is scheduled to return to the field Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the Arizona Soccer Showcase in Phoenix. The Badgers open the three-day event with La Joya at 9:30 a.m. Prescott will face Higley at 1:30 p.m. in the first match of a doubleheader Wednesday, Dec. 28, and Copper Canyon at 3:30 p.m.
Moon Valley (0-8-1, 0-1 West Valley) is scheduled to return to the field at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, against Higley.
