Sgt. John and Peggy Clark of Prescott Country Club celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on April 10. They were married in 1952, at the First Baptist Church in Wellington, Texas, and honeymooned in the Sherman- Denison area, where he was stationed at Perrin Air Force Base. Following John’s discharge from the Air Force, the couple moved to Long Beach, California, where John attended Long Beach State College, and graduated in 1958. They moved to Stanton, where they resided for 44 years. Both were active in church work as Sunday school teachers, being a deacon, and Peggy working 33 years as church secretary. John worked in the “Defense Aerospace Industry,” retiring from Hughes Aircraft, Fullerton, California, in 1993, and moved to Prescott Country Club in 2001. The couple has two sons, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. They believe they have proven the song, “They Try to Tell Us We’re too Young,” to be wrong in their case.
