Obituary: James Robert Allen

James Robert Allen’s lease on life expired on 8 September 2016. Jim was born in Chillicothe, Illinois, 24 September 1921. A couple years following his service in the Army, Jim moved to Phoenix, Arizona in the late 40’s with his Father and Stepmother.

Jim assisted his Dad at his grocery store prior to a wish to become a house painter (he loved being outside). After learning the needed skills Jim became an independent house painter.

One day Jim’s life changed with meeting and falling in love at first sight with Mary Louise Monroe. Jim and Mary were married in 1950; for the next 66 years their love grew only stronger day by day.

Jim and Mary moved to Prescott in 1959. Soon thereafter Jim found work for the next 28 years at Ft. Whipple VA as a painter. Throughout his life Jim was truly a sociable animal. How dearly he loved to share his humor to enliven the spirits of others.

For sure Jim was an accomplished raconteur!!! Jim was a giver not taker with people.

Of hobbies and interests there were bowling and car drives. His true passion was being a wonderful husband, most excellent father. What with Jim’s compassion and love for my mother and I, how barren our lives are now that he is gone.

Dear Father; Mother and I are always missing you, always thinking of you, always loving you always, We shall not forget you!!

James is preceded in death by his mother Mary McVoy Allen; father Donald Marcus Allen and brother Lyle Wallace Allen.

James is survived by his wife Mary Louise Allen; son James Allen; sister Mary Lynch; nephew Brian Allen; niece Mary Watkins.
