Corridor Briefs: Breakfast is back


Breakfast at the Center will be an abbreviated menu of biscuits & gravy served from 8 to 10 a.m. due to Cordes Lakes Days starting at 10 a.m. Volunteers are desperately needed as there aren’t enough people to make the full breakfast and still set up for Cordes Lakes Days.

Cordes Lakes Days will be Sept. 17 and will be “A Family Affair” with food, fun and games for the entire family. Raffle tickets on sale now at $1 each or 6 for $5 for your choice of a barbecue grill, rock star sign, wi-fi system, phone system and more. Pie baking contest, so if you think your pie is the best, be sure to enter the contest. There will be a cookie baking contest for children. Blankets 4 Kids will be on hand so stop by their booth.

The American Legion returns on Sept. 21 with the meeting starting at 6 p.m. at the 50s Diner Conference Building, 19780 Hitching Post Way. In addition to the regular meeting, they will be honoring local volunteers.

The Fire Board has moved to Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. at 11975 S. Highway 69. They are proposing a budget override be placed on the November ballot, so come and let your voice be heard.

September 21st is also produce day at the Cordes Lakes Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive. Sign-up starts at 7 a.m. and the doors CLOSE at 9 a.m.

Sept. 22 the Mayer Area Meals on Wheels, 10051 S. Miami in Mayer, is holding Firefighters Appreciation Days with lunch at 11 a.m.

Sept. 25 Meals on Wheels will hold a horseshoe pitch contest in the park. This starts at 11:00 a.m. with a $10 entry fee and 80% payout. Call 928-308-1411 for more information.

Oct. 7 Meals on Wheels will hold a Corn Fest and Bake Sale at Bank of the West in Mayer. Come early for the best selection of baked goods.

Oct. 13th is the Cordes Lakes Association meeting at 7 p.m. at the Center.

Octoberfest at the Mountain of Faith Lutheran Church, 20135 E. Stagecoach is on Oct. 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. Enjoy bratwurst and other delicacies.

A Community Yard Sale is scheduled to Oct. 15 at the Cordes Lakes Community Center. Contact Todd at 928-925-1764 for more information.

Western Trade Days is gearing up for their event on Nov. 4 & 5. If you are interested in having a booth, contact Roselyn at 928-925-9898 or Remember this is Western Trade and vendors need to fall into this category. Call Roselyn if you have questions.


Bingo is held every Wednesday at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. with sandwiches and snacks available.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is held weekly on Fridays at 20049 E. Club Lane. Weigh-in is at 8:45 a.m., with meetings starting at 9 a.m.

The Tuesday Planning Committee will now meet at 9:00 a.m. every Tuesday. Meetings are open to everyone to present their ideas and to help with fundraising. This is also the time to present your fundraising information to be placed on the published Community Events list.

United Teens meet every Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Cordes Lakes Library, 15989 S. Cordes Lakes Drive. This group works together on fundraising and volunteering in the community.

Tea & Sympathy. Join the tea party group on Thursdays from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. and enjoy tea, cookies, and conversation. It is held at Mayer Meals on Wheels, 10001 S. Miami in Mayer.

Young Lives meets at the Cordes Lakes Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive, Monday at 7:00 p.m.

Big Bug Charity Quilters meet every Monday at the Mayer Senior Center, 10051 Miami, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Beading is held Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. Knit and Crochet at Flour Stone Bakery, 12780 Central, Mayer, meets every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. to exchange patterns and conversation. This is in Mayer and diagonally across from the post office.
