Yavapai College’s scenic sculpture garden will glow with holiday cheer Saturday, Dec. 17, when YC invites its neighbors over for cookies, carols and fun in an evening lit with hundreds of luminaria.
“Light Up the Season,” Yavapai College’s free luminaria event, commences at dusk when the tiny candles dotting the sculpture garden paths are lit. Visitors can hold off the chill with hot chocolate and cookies while YC Music students serenade them with holiday songs beneath the winter stars.
“Light Up the Season” is open to everyone in the Prescott community. Patrons are encouraged to bring a cold-weather clothing item for donation to Great Circle Media’s “Gift of Warmth” clothing drive. They can continue the celebration by attending “It’s A Wonderful Life, the Musical” in the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center immediately following the event.
“We hope the community will join us in celebration,” YCPAC Director Craig Ralston said. “The lights, combined with the music in our beautiful sculpture garden, promise to make this a memorable evening.”
“Light Up the Season” will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., in the sculpture garden behind the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center, 1100 E. Sheldon St. in Prescott. Admission is free.
YCPAC’s musical production of “It’s A Wonderful Life” immediately follows in the auditorium. Tickets for the musical are $20 to $30 and available by calling the YCPAC Box Office at 928-776-2000 or visiting www.ycpac.com.
