Betty Ann Marceau

Betty Ann Marceau, 84, was called home to heaven May 23, 2016, after a brief stop at Prescott Marley House to recover from a fall. Betty was born June 14, 1931, to Madeline (Boyle) Ludtke and Harold Ludtke in Superior, Wisconsin.

She had resided in Prescott, Arizona, for 27 years since retiring to Arizona with her husband, Paul. Though retired, the couple was active in Prescott-area real estate for several years, with Betty employing her extensive secretarial skills to help market the business.

The couple celebrated 65 years of marriage in April. Shortly after purchasing a home in 1951, Paul was drafted and Betty followed him to Fort Eustis, Virginia, where she quickly obtained a civil service position with the U.S. Army Transportation Corps. Two years later, Paul, Betty and their newly born first daughter were back home and moving into their home in Duluth, Minnesota. The family also has resided in Superior, Chippewa Falls, Oshkosh, and Wausau, Wisconsin, as well as Eagan, Minnesota.

During her early days in Prescott, Betty extensively volunteered with multiple organizations, including Yavapai Regional Medical Center, the Prescott Chamber of Commerce, and the Prescott Police Department. She was an award-winning bowler on leagues in Wisconsin and Prescott.

Betty much enjoyed living on the lake, boating, snowmobiling, and trail riding by motorcycle in the early days of raising four children, Susan Kay, the late Michael R. Marceau, Diane (Doug) O’Neal, and Katherine Ann. Betty was very creative, from sewing outfits for her children and her daughters’ Barbie dolls to painting figurines and designing floral baskets. She loved motor home trips with Paul in retirement.

In addition to her son, Betty was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband; and three daughters; along with her sister Marilyn (Jerry) Dahlberg; two grandchildren, Steven M. (Cindy) Passow and Lisa Marie (Justin) Taylor; and two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Wyatt.

A short service for Betty will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave. in Prescott. Friends and acquaintances of the family are most welcome to attend and lend comfort. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery on Willow Creek Road.

The family is most grateful for the caring services of Hospice Compassus and Prescott Marley House in “our mom’s” last days and hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to either of those organizations in Betty’s name.

Mom, you will remain in our hearts forever. May God continue to provide us the peace and comfort we require at this difficult time. With all our love, Paul, Sue, Diane, and Kathy. And your puppy Pacho.
