Thomas Christensen

Thomas Christensen of Prescott, Arizona, passed away on May 12, 2016 at his home residence after a long and hard fought battle with cancer.

Thomas (Tom) was born Feb. 28, 1944, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, to Helen (McCorquodale) and Julius Christensen of Wabasso, Minnesota.

He graduated from Wabasso High School in 1961 and joined the USAF in January 1962. He married Sandy Miller of Lucan, Minnesota on Sept. 18, 1965, and continued his Air Force career with several stateside assignments as well as assignments to Greenland, Italy, Guam and South Korea. He retired from the USAF Academy in January 1982 with 20 years of distinguished service. They remained in Colorado Springs until moving in 1985 to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he held the position as Legal Administrator in two high profile law firms, retiring in 2004 and moving to Prescott, Arizona to begin retirement life.

He was an avid golfer, especially enjoying his time at the Antelope Hills Golf Course in Prescott. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his in-laws, Mike and Florine Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy, of 50 years; one son, Scott; daughter-in-law, April; and grandsons Jake and Justin, all of Las Vegas; sisters Mary Kay (Nick) Welu of Wabasso, Minnesota, and Sue Christensen of Minneapolis, Minnesota; brother, Robert, of Lucan, Minnesota; and sister-in-law Gloria (John) Anderson of Scottsdale, Arizona; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at the Antelope Hills Golf Course in Prescott, Arizona, in early June.

Memorial gifts preferred to Fisher House Foundation (helping military families) or Fight Colorectal Cancer Organization.
