Marilyn and Leo Murphy of Prescott Valley are celebrating 50 years of marriage. They were married May 15, 1966 at Park Avenue Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, Iowa. They both grew up in Iowa, moved with their family to Phoenix in 1983 and then to Prescott Valley in 1998.
Leo is a retired plumber. They have raised Quarter Horses throughout their entire marriage, operating Murphy’s Quarter Horses. Leo still rides, breaks colts to ride and shoes his family’s horses. Marilyn had her own upholstery shop, is currently an avid quilter and has won awards for her crocheting. They will celebrate their anniversary on Sunday, May 15 with an open house at their daughter’s house in Coyote Springs. They have three children, Kyle Murphy, Kara Rozendaal (Ross) and Kory Murphy and eight grandchildren.
