Letter: Chalk It Up success

EDITOR:

The 8th annual Chalk It Up! Prescott took place in the parking lot of National Bank of Arizona on April 16 and 17. Despite some windy weather, the event had a great turn out with approximately 5,000 attendees and over 1,544 registered chalkers!

The success of this wonderful community event would not have been made possible without the efforts of over 80 dedicated volunteers, who helped with everything from set-up to tear down. I thank the Chalk it Up! committee for all of their hard work and Yavapai county community members for the awesome turnout and support.

This free event is truly for the community, and we are beyond proud to showcase and share the tremendous talent of Prescott and beyond. As people walked along the chalk art, admired the talent, watched the variety of performances or waited for their face to be painted, everyone had a smile and a compliment to share.

Chalk It Up! Prescott is a team effort, and I feel privileged to work with such a dedicated group of people who truly care about the importance of creativity and mental health programs within our community. Many thanks to the following sponsors:

Impressionistic Sponsor: Arizona Commission on the Arts; Combative Jiu Jitsu; Lamb Chevrolet; Prescott Area Arts and Humanities Council; Prescott and Parent Magazine. Contemporary Sponsor: Arizona Hometown Radio Group; Arma Vista Properties; Kiwanis Club of Prescott; Lindquist Inc., Realtors. Landscape Sponsor: Arizona State Credit Union; Avatar Tat2; Custom Sticker Makers; The Art Store; El Gato Azul; Hensley Beverage Company; National Bank of Arizona and Yavapai Regional Medical Center.

All proceeds will help to fund next year’s event as well as benefit the six funding priorities of West Yavapai Guidance Clinic Foundation. It was a pleasure to receive your support for improved community mental health in the quad-cities area.
