Corridor Briefs; Mayer Area Meals on Wheels Walk-A-Thon

March 19 is the Mayer Area Meals on Wheels Walk-A-Thon with breakfast starting at 7 a.m., registration at 7:30 a.m., and the walk starting at 8 a.m. This is a major fundraising project for Meals on Wheels, 10051 S. Miami in Mayer

Breakfast at the Center is also held on March 19, with breakfast starting at 7:00 a.m.

March 24th is Produce day at the Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive, with sign-up starting at 7:00 a.m.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Cordes Lakes Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive, on March 26. Pastry and coffee will be available from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., with the egg hunts starting at 9 a.m. Please NOTE the TIME CHANGE for hunts starting at 9 a.m. rather than 10 a.m.

April 2 will be the craft and rummage sale at Cordes Lakes Community Center and it will start at 9:00 a.m. Table space is sold out so there should be great selections.

The American Legion Post 122 will hold an ATV Run on April 9th. Sign-up starts at 8:30 a.m. at Henry Cordes Park (near entrance of Cordes Lakes) with the run starting at 9:30 a.m. and ending at Horseshoe Ranch for lunch. Cost is $15 per unit which includes a lunch and raffle ticket. Additional lunch tickets are $5.00 for pulled pork, beans, and beverage. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. This fundraising is for the Children & Youth programs sponsored by American Legion Post 122.

April 14 is the Ladies Luncheon at Cordes Lakes Community Center with the theme of Garden Tea Party, serving a traditional English Tea along with fantastic entertainment and many great door prizes, as a meal for two at Cracker Barrel. Cost is $12 and it begins at noon. Call 928-632-8965 for a ticket seller near you.

April 14 is also the date for the Cordes Lakes Community Association General Meeting at 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive, with Judge Bill Rummer as guest speaker.

WEEKLY EVENTS

Bingo is held every Wednesday at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. with sandwiches and snacks available, held at Cordes Lakes Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive.  Jackpot varies weekly.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is held weekly on Fridays at 20049 E. Club Lane. Weigh-in is at 8:45 a.m., with meetings starting at 9 a.m.

The Tuesday Planning Committee is changing their meeting time. They will meet at 6 p.m. at the Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive on the first Tuesday of each month in order to accommodate those that work during the day. The meetings for the balance of Tuesdays will be at 9 a.m. Meetings are open to everyone and they are hoping to get the working people to attend to present their ideas by having it held in the evening.

United Teens meet every Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Cordes Lakes Library,

15989 S. Cordes Lakes Drive. This group works together on fundraising and volunteering in the community.

Exercise Class is suspended for March, but normally held at Cordes Lakes Community Center. Sessions are Tuesday and Thursday each week from 7 to 8 a.m. That’s eight sessions for only $5. The fee covers the cost of building use. Contact Kimila at 928-713-3782.

Big Bug Charity Quilters meet every Monday at the Mayer Senior Center, 10051 Miami, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Beading is held Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m. Beading Class is held every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at the MAAC, 10051 Miami.

MONTHLY EVENTS

Storytime at the Cordes Lakes Public Library is held on the first Friday of the month, with

Miss Cindy reading a story to the pre-schoolers at 3 p.m.  The library is located at 15989 S. Cordes Lakes Drive.

Big Bug Gem & Mineral Club holds their outings on the third Monday of the month with meetings held the following Tuesday at 7 p.m. at various members’ homes.   Contact Ken Dunham at 928-899-6810 for more information. Meetings are held at member’s homes and varies by month.

Love Ministry is closing its doors. Due to health issues in her family, low volunteer assistance, and poor donations, keeping the “department store” open is no longer possible. Carol has no choice but to close as she can no longer maintain everything with so little help.

Mayer Fire has its open board meetings on the third Tuesday (Yes, they have CHANGED THE DAY again) of the month at 6 p.m. at the main location on Highway 69.
