Students in Prescott and Prescott Valley can get backpacks filled with school supplies through TCC’s annual nationwide School Rocks Backpack Giveaway.
Between noon and 3 p.m. Saturday, July 30, local families can take their children to participating TCC stores in Prescott and Prescott Valley to pick up a backpack filled with pencils, paper, a pencil box, folders, glue and more.
The stores are:
• 150 E. Sheldon St., Suite D-1113
• 3250 Gateway Blvd., Suite 330
• 254 Lee Blvd, Suite 101.
• 3292 Glassford Hill Road, Suite D-01.
Each participating TCC store will donate 250 backpacks. TCC, the largest Verizon Authorized Retailer in the U.S., will give away 235,000 backpacks nationwide.
All leftover backpacks will be donated to local schools.
In 2015, the National Retail Federation predicted the average person with children in grades K-12 would spend $97.74 on school supplies such as notebooks, pencils and backpacks. With more than 16 million children in the U.S. living in poverty, TCC is working to alleviate the rising costs of school supplies through this annual program.
