DEWEY - A Camp Verde woman was killed Saturday morning, Jan. 16, when the pickup she was driving crossed the center line and ran head-on into a van on Highway 169.
Vickie Flanagan, 62, was driving a Toyota Tacoma at about 8:15 a.m. when she went into the oncoming lane and struck the Ford van, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Flanagan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the van was airlifted to a hospital in the Phoenix area for treatment of critical, but non-life threatening, injuries.
A DPS trooper was helping another driver change a tire on the roadside near milepost 5 when the crash happened right in front of him.
After it hit the van, the Toyota spun across the road, hitting the trooper's unoccupied patrol vehicle.
