David Carl Rentschler, 54, passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at his home in Prescott Valley, Arizona, after a courageous battle with ALS.

He was born on March 9, 1961, in Phoenix, Arizona to Paul and Dorothy Rentschler.

David is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Lori; daughters, Mary (Jimmy) Barnett and Lydia Rentschler; sons, Jesse and Levi Rentschler; his brothers; John (Priscilla) Rentschler, Daniel (Cindy) Rentschler; his sister, Ruthann (Bob) Irvine; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dorothy Rentschler.

He graduated from Prescott High School in 1979, went on to Africa to build air strips with his brother Daniel. David enjoyed scuba diving and snorkeling, especially in Hawaii. He loved gardening, playing board games and taking vacations with his family. David had a passion for helping others and was blessed with the gift of diagnosing auto problems and was the guy who could fix anything, always willing to work on projects for free.

David lived a full life and was loved by many. He impacted the lives of all he came in contact with, had a contagious smile and he will be greatly missed.

His family wants to thank the ALS Foundation and Hospice Family Care for all their support, kindness and outstanding care.

A Celebration of David’s life will be on March 12, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Heights Church, Building H2, at 2121 Larry Caldwell Drive in Prescott.
