Letter: Wolves needed

EDITOR:

Our native Mexican wolves and gray wolves can't catch a break when it comes to politicians and the roadblocks that are being set in place to insure their extinction.

Sen. Flake put an amendment to an energy bill, S2012, to remove Mexican wolves from the Endangered Species List. Sen. Griffen has SB1243 to stop all releases without the Arizona Game & Fish Commission's approval and that is something that will never happen.

This is a species that is under the genetic gun with politicians wanting to start killing them and not release new genetically valuable animals. This is all political, no science involved, against an animal essential to our ecosystem.

These politicians are also taking away any "balance of power" with another amendment stopping judicial review. Are we going to sit back and let this happen?

Please call your "representative" and tell them all wolves and predators are essential, need protection and we must learn to co-exist. By the way, we lost 15 wolves so far since last year, most of them poached.
