Grab some brews in Prescott area for Arizona Beer Week

PRESCOTT - Grab a cold one and raise it up because Arizona Beer Week is here once again, through Saturday, Feb. 20. As usual, breweries around the Prescott area are getting in on the action, releasing new brews, and holding events to meet the brewers.

And, don't forget the Arizona Strong Beer Festival at Steele Indian School Park in Phoenix on Saturday, Feb. 13. General Admission is $45, $10 for designated drivers or $75 for VIP tickets and runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., or at 11:30 a.m. for VIP tickets.

Prescott Brewing Company, 130 W. Gurley St., has a full schedule, with special brews as well as menu specials throughout the week. As far as beers go, the brewery released the She's So Hop Red IPA on Thursday, as well as the firkin of Raven Maniac with cinnamon and vanilla bean on Friday, Feb. 12. There's also the opportunity to grab a burger along with a beer with the Menu Special of the Bistro Burger and Brew during the whole week, with a second special, Osso Bucco, on Sunday, Feb. 14, available through referencing the brewery's Facebook page. Prescott Brewing Company is also holding its Meet the Brewers Event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Granite Mountain Brewing is also getting in on the action. It released She's So Hop Red IPA on Thursday as well, along with a wheat wine in collaboration with the Perch Brewery on Saturday, Feb. 13. The brewery also has music to go along with the brews - Not2Shabby at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 and the Don Grise Duo at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19. Granite Mountain Brewing has its Meet the Brewers event on Thursday, Feb. 18 from 5 to 7 p.m.

There's also Black Hole Beer Company, 1590 Swenson St., which is releasing eight different beers over the course of the week: Astromonk with Chinook (Thursday, Feb. 11), Bangkok Blastoff, a Thai inspired IPA brewed with coconut palm sugar, ADHA 529 hops and fermented with mango and kefir lime leaves (Friday, Feb. 12), Whiskey Barrel Aged Smokonut (Saturday, Feb. 13), Whiskey Barrel Double Coffeeslam (Sunday, Feb. 14), Whiskey Comet IPA, brewed with bourbon barrel infused water (Wednesday, Feb. 17), Hopsicle Double IPA (Thursday, Feb. 18), Figs in Space, a Belgian Dubbel with figs (Friday, Feb. 19) and Whiskey Barrel Spacegasm Barleywine (Saturday, Feb. 20).

Black Hole Beer Company will also take over eight taps at Craft 64 in Scottsdale on Saturday, Feb. 20, as well as hold a Couples Cornhole Tournament at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14; $50 per couple gets lunch for two, four drink tickets and entry into the tournament. Meet the Brewers from 5 to 7 p.m. at their new Prescott Valley Location, 8734 E. Long Mesa Dr. Suite A on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Arizona Beer Week is also being recognized in Prescott Valley with Lonesome Valley Brewing, 3040 N. Windsong Drive, Suite 101. Usually, its Fundamentalist double black IPA is available only by the bottle, but will be on draft all week, along with a Meet the Brewers Event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15.

Barnstar Brewing Company in Skull Valley, 4050 Tonto Road, has two beers coming out during the week as well: the RP IPA and Hot Philis. Barnstar Brewing Company is open from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Arizona Beer Week is a fun time with all the beer fans getting together, Barnstar Brewing Company co-owner Sandy Bigelow said.

"It's always nice to taste the new stuff coming out and see what everybody's brewing," Bigelow said.
