PV man helps set new world record for chess

Jim Schubert of Prescott Valley drew Grandmaster Timur Gareyev in a Guinness world record event in Las Vegas on Saturday, Dec. 3. Gareyev played 48 rated chess players simultaneously while blindfolded. Gareyev had 35 wins and seven draws. Gareyev was blindfolded while all of his opponents had a chess board with pieces in front of them. This 19-hour event set a new world record!
