PHOENIX — After Tyler Ulis and Alan Williams made a one-night appearance for the Northern Arizona Suns and were recalled, Derrick Jones Jr. was also recalled by the parent-club Phoenix Suns on Thursday morning.
Jones was assigned to Northern Arizona on Nov. 25, his second NBA D-League assignment of the season, and has averaged 14.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game this season in 10 contests for the affiliate Suns (10-2) in Prescott Valley.
Undrafted out of UNLV, Jones, or “Airplane Mode,” has made a name for himself in D-League circles with high-flying dunks that seem to make nightly highlight reels.
Jones was in uniform for Phoenix on Thursday night when the parent club took on the San Antonio Spurs at Talking Stick Resort Arena.
It is unknown when, or if, Jones will return to Prescott Valley to resume his D-League season.
As for Ulis and Williams, the two budding NBA prospects were unable to help Northern Arizona continue its winning ways with a 107-93 loss Wednesday night to the Santa Cruz Warriors, ending a seven-game winning streak and perfect 8-0 mark at home for the Suns.
Ulis had 13 points, nine assists and three steals in 36 minutes, while Williams posted a team-high 20 points and nine rebounds in the loss to Santa Cruz.
Northern Arizona faces Santa Cruz on the road tonight with a tipoff scheduled for 8 p.m. The Suns return home Sunday to welcome the Texas Legends. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
