Donald Shaffer

Donald Shaffer passed away at his home in Prescott on November 27, 2016. He was 80 years old.

He is survived by his wife Jeralene “Jeri” and their four children; David, (Arcely); Deborah Hampton (Stock Earman); Michael Shaffer, Dorene Donoho (Mike); ten grand-children and six great-grandchildren.

Don was born March 25, 1936 in Vinita, Oklahoma. The oldest son of Earnest and Lola Shaffer’s six boys. They moved to Stockton, California in 1940.

After graduating from Hollywood High School in 1955 he joined the U.S. Air Force, and married Jeri in February 1957. They resided in Thousand Oaks/Newbury Park, California for 40 years.

His “Pop Warner” football coaching had a lasting effect on his players regarding teamwork and individual responsibility. His team took the Tri-County Championship in 1972.

Don was employed in the electronics sales and marketing field, retiring in September 1999, moving to Prescott in December of that year.

Don managed the Habitat for Humanity store from 2002-2005 and was Campaign Executive for United Way between 2006-2010. He was active in the Lions Club, serving as President of the Prescott Sunrise Lions and a Melvin Jones award recipient. He also served as “Sheriff” of the Westerners. He earned his Real Estate license in 2006 and was employed at BloomTree Realty.

Don enjoyed his family, football, fishing, traveling, and community service. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
