Embry-Riddle Prescott orders two new planes

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott campus will be getting two new Cessna Skyhawk 172s.

The aircraft will be delivered later this year, adding to its fleet of 16 Skyhawks.

“Embry-Riddle’s Prescott, Arizona, campus has experienced unprecedented growth in the number and quality of bright young people who want to enter our rigorous programs in the fields of aviation, engineering, aviation business, security and intelligence, and the sciences,” said Prescott Campus Chancellor Dr. Frank Ayers.

Hunts Building Center now A2Z Home Center

The retail hardware and lumberyard store Hunts Building Center in Chino Valley has changed hands and is being rebranded.

Renaming it A2Z Home Center, Jeff and Nancy VanWell took over the business in May.

They’re keeping much of the same product, but hope to increase the lumberyard part of the business and become a go-to for contractors needing building materials.

Giving our military a day of free

On Sept. 8, businesses across the United States will join in Freedom Day USA, a national Thank You Movement for the members of our military and their immediate families, along with veterans.

AZ State Director, and Prescott local, Whitney Lee is looking for local businesses to join the movement by showing their appreciation to the members of our armed services by providing a day of free.

“I know firsthand how much of an impact each of us can have by giving a simple thank you to our heroes in uniform,” Lee said. “Not only do I have the privilege of helping businesses across Arizona join this wonderful movement, but the dental office that I run locally, Prescott Dentistry, has again partnered with Freedom Day USA to present free same-day dentistry and free dental cleanings to those who serve our country. It is truly one of my favorite days of the year.”

The idea behind Freedom Day USA is for each business participant to provide a thank you gift in the form of free services, goods, discounts, products; a haircut, an oil change, a meal, etc... as a way to honor the sacrifices, service and FREEDOM which these men and women have provided to us.
