Varsity of '43 - Winners and Losers
Oh, where are those happy and carefree boys
Who seemed always to win at games?
Where are thos freckled and fresh faced lads,
Sure, you remember their manes.
There was Richard; he could jump like a deer.
And Bob; a strong, sturdy guy.
Chet was the fastest one on the field.
And Will; he'd run the score high.
They went away in the prime of their youth,
Abandoned the games for boys.
They set aside their bats and balls
Like so many outgrown toys.
Soon they were playing a serious game
And those who had cheered now cried.
For Richard, Bob, Chet and Will
Went to war, fought and they died.
