The New Yavapai Economy: Who is getting hired?

Between September 2014 and September 2015, the Prescott MSA region posted 3,662 jobs on average per month and recorded 3,741 average monthly hires in the same time period. The greatest quantity of hires occurred in food preparation and service occupations, office and administrative support, and sales. Top job postings in this period occurred in the transportation and moving occupations, retail sales and related jobs, healthcare practitioners and technical healthcare occupations, office and administrative support positions. The transportation, warehouse and moving sector has experienced steady growth in Prescott Valley, showing a 52% increase in jobs between 2001 and 2015, thus substantiating the need for talent and increased job postings in the sector.

In the past year, postings in particular sectors has increased dramatically, displaying a high demand for talent in these fields. This increase in job postings highlights an interesting phenomena that we are seeing across industry sectors. Employers have begun to post jobs on an increased basis in order to track talent and avoid the pitfalls of losing someone and having to wait an extended period of time before comparable skill sets are found.

Those looking for a career change or seeking to upskill may find opportunity in these top job posting sectors, as the increase in postings signifies sustained demand for someone with the skills to fill the job.
