Dorothy Elaine Bloom

Dorothy Elaine Bloom, 77, a Prescott resident since 1966, died on May 6, 2015, in her apartment in Alta Vista Retirement Village. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman in 2010.

Dorothy was born Oct. 1, 1937, on her parents homestead near Onida, South Dakota, to Wallace I. and Selma E. Klingbeil-Fritz.

Mrs. Bloom was employed at Plastaloy in Prescott for four years then at the Prescott Veterans Administration Hospital in the Dietetics Department until her retirement in January of 1998 after 25 years.

Dorothy was active in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Prescott, Arizona where she was a charter member. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and crafts. Dorothy did the Cradle Roll from 1996-2010. Her most joyous times were with her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Bloom is survived by her daughters, Sheila (Ron) Everlove of Wichita, Kansas, Cathee (Fred) Sheffield of Phoenix, Arizona, Vickie (Mark) Hewitt of Prescott Valley, Arizona and Teresa (Les) Mickle of Cottonwood, Arizona; son Todd (Donna) Bloom of Cottonwood, Arizona; and her sister, Sylvia Sack of Spearfish, South Dakota; eight grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

A celebration of Dorothy Bloom's life will be at 2 p.m., May 20, 2015 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, Prescott, Arizona.

The family suggests contributions be donated to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 1202 Green Lane, Prescott, AZ 86305, for the Memorial Garden, one of Dorothy's favorite items as she loved flowers.
