Stuart "Bud" Schall

Stuart "Bud" Schall, loving and devoted friend, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at his home in Tempe, Arizona on Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Bud was born in Three Rivers, Michigan on Oct. 18, 1929 to Donald Arthur and Marion Frances (Belote) Schall.

He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1947, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1950. Bud moved to Arizona in the mid-1950s and began a career with AiResearch (now Honeywell) that spanned 34 years, 3 months, 2 weeks, 4 days and 45 minutes. He retired as a Supervisor in the Research and Development Laboratory in December 1989.

Bud loved all things in nature and exploring the great outdoors. He ran marathons, hiked trails all over Arizona, and he enjoyed fishing and camping with his brother and friends from work. He was an avid rock collector, was extremely knowledgeable in astronomy and was an excellent artist and photographer.

Bud leaves behind his beloved ancient cat, Zackary, who just turned 19 years old.

Bud will be missed by his three daughters all living in Arizona, Diana Lee Fletcher of Prescott Valley, Julia Rouvier of Flagstaff and Wendy Schall (Kim) of Gilbert. He adored his five grandchildren, Jesse Lee Fletcher, Haylee Rae Fletcher, Daphne Rose Ill (Jake), Ravi Leo Rouvier and Justin Lee Cherington (Chanelle). He also loved telling others about his four great-grandchildren, Avah Karren Cherington, Hunter Stuart Cherington, Lorelai Lee Ill and Reed Thomas Ill. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his two brothers, Robert Donald Schall and Donald Irving Schall.

A special thank you to Bud's neighbors who loved and cared for him as a family member, and to his physical therapists at Preferred Rehab Spine & Sport where he enjoyed his rehabilitation over the past couple of years. Your kindness and support meant the world to him.

Bud believed in "paying it forward." In that spirit, please consider making a contribution to a charity, organization or individual in need, not just in his memory, but throughout your life.

Services were held at Resthaven Park Mortuary & Cemetery, in Phoenix, Arizona, on June 27, 2015.
