No new clues in case of missing man

PRESCOTT- A missing 69-year-old man whose car was found abandoned May 17 still has not been located, nearly a month later, a YCSO spokesman said.

Edward Cox, of Las Vegas, was last seen driving a blue Buick Regal sedan north on Forest Road 24, north of Cave Creek, headed toward Bloody Basin Road on May 11, sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said, but the Sheriff's Office wasn't called until they were told about his abandoned car, found on Bloody Basin Road, about 6 miles west of the Verde River, with a flat tire.

D'Evelyn said there was no evidence of foul play.

He said that further searching by air and with dogs has been unsuccessful.

"YCSO deputies also met with some of his family members where his car was found to show them the search area and discuss our search efforts," D'Evelyn said.

"The family has been unable to provide any further workable information to explain his presence in Arizona or intended destination," he added.

D'Evelyn said Cox's cell phone has been off since May 10; his credit cards haven't been used recently-authorities are still monitoring them; and he is apparently not in any hospital.

Cox is 5 feet 8 inches tall, about 185 pounds, and has grey hair and blue eyes.

Anyone who has seen or contacted Cox is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 928-771-3260.
