At 4 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 2, the once existent Albertsons in Prescott, 172 E. Sheldon St., will open as the newest addition to the Haggen grocery chain spreading across the Southwest.
The Albertsons location closed on Sunday, May 31, at 6 p.m. for the initial stages of a complete rebranding.
In tandem, the Albertsons in Prescott Valley, 7450 E. Highway 69, will be closing at 6 p.m. tonight and re-opening as Haggen at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 4.
The move comes as part of a massive acquisition by Haggen of Albertsons grocery stores throughout the Western U.S.
Out of the 148 supermarkets acquired by Haggen, 100 are located in California, Arizona and Nevada. Those 100 have been gradually making the conversion since the start of a 100-day campaign that began on March 11 in Carlsbad, California.
The first Haggen Arizona stores opened in Scottsdale and Anthem on May 28.
All 10 new Haggen stores in Arizona will be open by June 4, with the Prescott Valley and Flagstaff locations being the last to make the transition.
