Juanita Gene Johnson

Juanita Gene Johnson, 88, of Prescott, Ariz., was born Jan. 25, 1926, in Benjamin, Texas. She departed this life Oct. 5, 2014, on her way to join the Lord in Heaven and her husband and soul mate, Lee Johnson.

Juanita was born to James Stewart Robinson and Bonnie Ethyl (Nelson) Robinson and was the oldest of four daughters. She went to Trinity University in San Antonio, where she received her degree in English, was awarded a membership in Who's Who of American Women, and met her husband of 57 years.

Future homes included Carlsbad, N.M., where her first child, Stephanie A. Matheny of Phoenix and Prescott Valley, was born; San Diego, Calif.; and Upland, Calif., where her son, James R. Johnson of Prescott, was born. Seeking a healthier environment, the family moved to Prescott in 1966. She improved the world through memberships in the Women's Club, AAUW & P.E.O. CD Chapter.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter (husband Paul), son (wife Pam), three grandsons (James, Samuel and Jacob Johnson), her surviving sister, Annie, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. 

A memorial service will be held at Prescott Community Church, 3151 Willow Creek Road, Prescott, 3 p.m. Oct. 16, 2014.
