Walter Ray Herrin, 68, of Prescott, Ariz. departed this life Monday, June 23, 2014, at his home in Prescott. Walt was born Wednesday, Sept. 5, 1945, in Sumrall, Miss., to Abner and Lilly Herrin.

Walter "Ray" (as he was known as a toddler) Herrin went from the great state of Mississippi to Alabama, to become a rising local music star in television and radio. From there, he went to both Georgia and Florida as a young adult to begin his phenomenal career in the electronics service industry.

First, owning his own successful business in Atlanta, where he always put the customer first and foremost, then with Philco as a field representative honing his people and customer service skills.

Next, his path led him to California as a manager for Mitsubishi Electronics. Finally to Hitachi Electronics in both Georgia and California, where he advanced to national services director and was honored in 2004 as an inductee into the National Electronics Industry Hall of Fame.

His retirement came when he moved to Arizona in 2008 and to the beautiful city of Prescott in 2009. Mr. Herrin passed away peacefully in his home in the ponderosa pines, and will be truly missed by all of his many friends and family.

Walt was preceded in death by his son Gregory; he is survived by immediate and extended family, Pat, Scott, Poppy, Roy, Ruth, Rosie, Peck, Amber, Krysta, Haleigh, Dave, Jo Ann and Coty.
