Cordes Lakes

January 18 is "Breakfast To Order" at the Cordes Kitchen, eight different plates to choose from for only $5, served from 7 to 10 a.m. Drinks extra. On Feb. 1 from 4 to 7 p.m., the Cordes Kitchen will feature a chili cookoff. Vote for your favorite. Chili, cornbread and beverage is $6. Soda is extra.

Arcosanti's third annual Meet & Greet Fiber Retreat is Saturday, Jan. 25.  It is free and open to the public. Opens at 9 a.m. with workshop in knitting, felt, coil and cord from 10 to 11:30 a.m.  Lunch is available from noon to 1 p.m. at the café with buffet for $9 per person.  Beginning at 1 p.m. is a presentation by Ann Morton. Vendors and demonstrations are going on all day.

Mayer

Join us at Mayer Area Meals on Wheels, 10051 Miami St., from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, for this informative free presentation. First 30 people to sign up will receive a free entree at the Meal Center. Sign-up sheet at the center. Mayer Area Meals on Wheels Snowball Brunch is from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Mayer Area Activity Center, 10051 Miami St. Come and enjoy a delicious meal of spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, desserts, and drinks for a donation of $7/adult and $3/child. There will be good food, fun, prizes, raffles, and possibly a snowball fight, which even the babies in high chairs were participating in last year.

The MAYER DAZE Committee is looking for volunteers to help plan Mayer Daze and make it happen on May 10, 2014. For more information call 928-632-9236.

Weekly Events

Free exercise class starts at 8 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Chris Shackelford leads the classes at the Cordes Lakes Community Center.

Al-Anon open meetings are 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Community Center.  For more information call Len at 928-632-9064.

TOPS hours are 9:15 a.m. for weigh-in and 9:30 for meetings on Fridays.

Storytime for pre-schoolers at the Cordes Lakes Public Library is at 3 p.m. the first Friday of the month (Feb. 7). Miss Tina reads.

Big Bug Charity Quilters meet every Monday at the Mayer Senior Center from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Cordes Lakes Brush Yard is open from 7 a.m. to noon on the third Saturday of the month (Jan. 18). For Cordes Lakes residents' personal use only, no commercial use is permitted, and the site is open only at the specified date and time.

Big Bug Gem & Mineral Club meets the third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Cordes Lakes Community Center. For more information, call Jack Bennetto at 928-632-4277.

American Legion Post 122 conducts meetings at 2 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month, (Jan. 21) at the Cordes Lakes Community Center.

Mayer Fire open board meeting is at 6 p.m. Jan. 27, at the main location on Highway 69. This change for January is because of Martin Luther King Day holiday on the third Monday, Jan. 20.

New Life conducts Bible study classes open to all at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at Cordes Lakes Community Center.

Big Bug Charity Quilters meet from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. every Monday at the Mayer Senior Center.

Carpenter's Pantry Food Bank is at 10051 South 2nd St. in Mayer. Fresh produce is available from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday. It will be open from 9 - 10 a.m. on the last Saturday of the month.
