PRESCOTT, Arizona - Two short films showcasing the skills of local athletes against the backdrop of scenic area locales will be on display at the Raven Café next week.
On Monday, April 21, at 7 p.m., the Raven will present a showing of two short films: "The Front Porch," a film about local women rock climbers taking on some of the area's picturesque summits; and "Pilgrimage," a film about backcountry skiing in the Kachina Peaks.
Titiana Shostak-Kinker, a local rock climber and filmmaker, produced "The Front Porch," a film that features about 10 local climbers in locations throughout the Prescott area. Shostak-Kinker is dedicating the film to the Granite Mountain Wilderness area, much of which burned in the June 2013 Doce Fire.
"Pilgrimage" was produced by Prescott filmmaker Jed Gantert, and focuses on his relationship with backcountry travel in the Flagstaff-area Peaks on bike and skis.
The screening is free of charge and open to the public. The Raven is located at 142 N. Cortez St., Prescott.
