PRESCOTT (AP) - Attorneys for former Prescott stockbroker Steven DeMocker, who was convicted of murder Oct. 4, will get a chance to argue for a new trial next month.
Judge Gary Donahoe has scheduled oral arguments on the defense motion for Nov. 13. That's the same day DeMocker is set to be sentenced in the case.
A jury found DeMocker guilty of first-degree murder and six other charges in the death of his ex-wife, Carol Kennedy.
His attorneys contend that the evidence didn't support the convictions.
Prosecutors had no direct evidence tying DeMocker to Kennedy's death but relied on circumstantial evidence at trial. They say jurors seemingly gave little weight to the defense argument that someone else could have killed Kennedy.
