Lonna Cris Wisdom was born May 10, 1943, to Art and Verla Zerwer in Albuquerque, N.M. She passed away on Oct. 20, 2013, in Peoria, Ariz.
She married the love of her life, Leroy Wisdom, in 1963. Lonna and Leroy, along with their 3-year-old daughter, Leonda, moved to the family ranch in Clayton, N.M., in 1974. Lonna was a bookkeeper and helped Leroy run the ranch for nearly 30 years. Lonna and Leroy retired from the ranch life and moved to Oklahoma in 2003. Leroy passed away unexpectedly shortly after their move to Oklahoma, and Lonna then moved to Chino Valley, Ariz. to be close to her daughter, Dr. Leonda Armstrong. Lonna was an avid animal lover and that love brought her to work with her daughter Leonda at Circle L Animal Hospital right up until her passing.
Lonna is survived by her daughter, Dr. Leonda Armstrong, and son-in-law Jim David of Chino Valley; her grandson Virgil Bryan Armstrong of Tucson; and one sister, Lisa (Tom) Butler of Reno, Nev.
In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up at National Bank in Chino Valley. Proceeds will benefit the Charlie Hall Animal Fund and the Community Church of Chino Valley.
A celebration of Lonna's life will be 2 p.m. Nov. 2, 2013, at the Chino Valley Community Church, at the corner of Highway 89 and Road 3 North. A second celebration will be at a later date in December 2013 at the family ranch in Clayton, N.M.
