Judy Lukas has combined her love for animals, spinning yarn, and knitting into a way to raise money for United Animal Friends (UAF). For a $30 donation to the animal rescue group, "Socks Judy" will create a small teddy bear from dog or long-haired cat fur.

Pet owners are invited to collect hair from their pets and bring it to "Socks Judy" at Woof Down Lunch on Saturday, June 1, at the courthouse plaza in Prescott. The fur will be spun into yarn, thoroughly washed, and fashioned into a small teddy bear.

To participate, pet owners should collect at least four ounces of fur brushed or combed from cats and dogs in a plastic zip-top bag (shaved hair will not work). A sandwich bag stuffed very full will weigh about 4 oz. Fur can be brought to Socks Judy at Woof Down Lunch and the one-of-a-kind bear will be ready a few weeks later.
