I cannot say enough about one of our surgeons here in Prescott Valley. Dr. Davis, an orthopedic surgeon who is of an exceptional caliber, helped me with hip-replacement surgery. I had endured years of torment; gut-wrenching fear kept me from addressing it.
I'd like to say I was one of those patients who "manned up" and went into it head-on, but the reality was I was one of those screaming people we all hear about, and I am more than a little embarrassed about it.
Dr. Davis told me during my consultation - after seeing me hobble in dragging my leg - that "You are going to be amazed." And I am just that and more. I am truly dumb-struck. I can't believe the difference in me.
Before and after my surgery, there wasn't a need that he hadn't already contemplated, and responded to. I never had to wait or wonder where he was or what the next move would be. He kept me from pain, which was one of my major fears, and within a week I was walking upright again, unaided.
I have to have my other hip done as well, and I am confident that it will go just as well. The staff at the hospital could not say enough about this man and how he changes people's lives, going the extra mile or whatever it takes. And I am walking and living proof of this man's abilities.
My surgery should have taken two hours, but he spent almost double that getting everything just so, and straightening my pelvis, which was why my legs were uneven. I no longer walk with a limp. I stand straight and tall, like I used to be.
You have no idea what you did for me, Dr. Davis, and I thank you out loud every day as I walk out of the house.
