Obituary: Rose E. Byers

Rose E. Byers, 93, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., departed this life Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, in Prescott, Ariz. She was born July 31, 1919, in Canal Fulton, Ohio, to Edward and Odella Mathie.

Rose spent her childhood years in the Canton, Ohio area. She attended elementary and high school there, graduating from McKinley Senior High School. She met her husband-to-be, Eugene, after graduation, and they were married in 1939. Rose and her family resided in various locations in the Midwest and West during the early family years ... Ohio, Iowa, Indiana and Oklahoma. When her children were well established in school, she herself returned to school and earned a degree that allowed her to teach. She taught at the elementary school level for a number of years and loved that experience. Rose and her husband Eugene retired in 1984 and moved to Sun City, Ariz. There they became very active in all that retirement communities in the southwest have to offer.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband Eugene R. Byers. She is survived by her son Bruce (Maria) Byers; daughter Gayle (Bob) Heinle; grandchildren Chad (Stephanie) Byers, Jeffrey (Angela) Byers and Amanda Bodine; and great-grandchildren Rebecca and Michelle Byres.
