Obituary: Arthur "Bud" Peterson Jr.

Arthur "Bud" Peterson Jr. passed peacefully March 18, 2012. He was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Arthur and Emma Peterson on Feb. 29, 1932. After high school and junior college, Bud enlisted in the Air Force in 1953. He was commissioned as second lieutenant and then onto first lieutenant flying F-86 D's (air defense command) out of Truax Air Force Base in Wisconsin.

After the Air Force, Bud continued his flying career with United Airlines, retiring after 34 years of piloting propeller planes up to the DC-10s.

Bud and wife Fran retired to Prescott, Ariz., from Seattle in 2000.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Fran; three children, Eric of Tucson, Ruth of Seattle and David of Redmond, Wash.; granddaughter Regina of Tucson; and nephew John Kreimar of Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Bud was a good father and husband; we miss him very much. He loved working around the house and especially on his cars, motorcycles, boats, RVs and an airplane, all kept in good working order. We have many good memories of picnics by the ocean (when it wasn't raining in Seattle), traveling to many states and overseas, and a very caring and loving father and husband.

A military ceremony will take place 11 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012, at the veterans cemetery.
