Obituary: Frederick William Wagner

Frederick William "Bill" Wagner, 67, of Chino Valley, Ariz., died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at his home. He was born in Prescott on June 4, 1944, the son of the late Frederick William and Mercy M. (Crompton) Wagner Sr. of Monroe, Utah.

Bill graduated from Prescott High School in 1962. He spent four years in the U.S. Navy. He started with Prescott Fire Department in 1967. He relocated to Bullhead City in 1980 where he retired in 1999 as fire chief. He was inducted into the Arizona Hall of Flame. He also served in the Arizona Legislature. He lived a full life of accomplishments and blessings. He will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Leslie; daughters, MaryAn Wagner of Chino Valley, Ariz., and Faith Smith Wagner of Bullhead City, Ariz.; son, Frederick Wm. Wagner IV and wife, Olga, of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers, David (Patty) Wagner of Monroe, Utah, Mike (Becky) Wagner of Chino Valley, Ariz., John (Debbie) Wagner of Hinkley, Utah; sister, Mary (Jim) Ettinger of Oatman, Ariz.; beloved grandchildren, Frederick Wm. Wagner V, Dustin Smith, Isabella Wagner and Julie Smith; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 231 Smoke Tree, Prescott, Ariz. Those who wish may make donations in Bill's memory to the Building Fund, c/o The Hope Lutheran Church of Chino Valley, 1010 N. Road 1, Chino Valley, AZ.
