Obituary: Terry W. Clark

Terry William Clark, 71, devoted husband, father and grandfather, peacefully passed away surrounded by family Aug. 19, 2012, in Prescott, Ariz.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janet C. Clark, and three children, Todd A. Clark (Karen) of San Diego, Calif., Laura E. Gregory of Prescott, and Kristina L. Bell (Curtis) of Durango, Colo. Terry is also survived by six grandchildren, Ryan Matthew Clark, Haley Elise Clark, Coury Alan Clark, Kylie Frances Bell, Kaitlyn Taylor Bell and Kodi Rae Bell; and by his siblings, DeWitt A. Clark (Rebecca) of Solomon, Md., Rodney D. Clark (Lorette) of Prescott, Ariz., Brian R. Clark (Deborah) of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jane Belle Clark Lituczy (Paul) of Phoenix, Ariz., and John B. Clark (Karla) of Prescott. Terry was predeceased by his father, Donald D. Clark, in 2010, his mother Martha W. Clark in 2012, and his brother Daniel, who died in a car accident in 1964.

Terry was born Dec. 16, 1940, to Donald D. and Martha W. Clark in Waltham, Vt. Terry, one of seven children, was raised on a farm and spent a lot of time at their camp on Lake Champlain. He graduated from Vergennes High School in 1959, and joined the Navy soon after. He served on the first deployment of the USS Enterprise. After the Navy, he worked in purchasing at Simmons Precision in Vergennes, Vt. Terry and Janet were married at the First Congregational Church in Vergennes in 1965. They moved to Prescott, Ariz., in 1969, where Terry worked for the Prescott National Forest Service (in engineering) until he retired in 1995. Terry enjoyed spending time with his family and had a special interest in airports and flying. He got his glider pilot's license in May 2007, and was a member of the Prescott Soaring Society.

Terry was loved by many people whom he touched during his lifetime. He will best be remembered for his easygoing manner and great sense of humor. There will be a Celebration of Life at a future date.
