Headlining the holiday events this year at the Prescott Resort is the annual World's Largest Gingerbread Village, open to the public for free Saturday, Nov. 19, through Sunday, Jan. 1.
This past year, the display showcased about 90 entries, and this year organizers are anticipating more than 100, said Steve Bracety, general manager.
All proceeds from the Gingerbread Village, which is divided into different categories ranging from entries by schoolchildren to those created by professional chefs, go to support Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Other events at the resort include:
Picture Day with Santa in the Eagles Nest Lounge from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26.
Cookie decorating in the Eagles Nest Lounge: The chef will provide the gingerbread cookies and the children get to be creative with the decorating. Times are noon to 2 p.m. Saturdays, Dec. 3, 10 and 17. The event is free; donations to YBBBS are appreciated. Entertainment will include local carolers.
The hotel also is offering a "Christmas Parade Package" for the night of Friday, Dec. 2. This includes a one-night stay, gingerbread cookies and hot cocoa, plus children's names are entered into a raffle for an opportunity to ride on Santa's float in the Christmas parade on Saturday, Dec. 3, in downtown Prescott.
After the courthouse lighting on Dec. 3, there will be a "Light the Resort" party in the Eagles Nest Lounge from 7 to 9 p.m. Santa will be there.
The annual Santa Brunch will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. Santa will be there from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A "Santa Fireside Reading" will be in the Eagles Nest Lounge from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 16 to benefit Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters. For the $5 entry fee, the children get a stocking to decorate, pictures with Santa and a few stories read by Santa at the fireplace.
The resort also will host a party open to the public on Christmas Eve in the Eagles Nest Lounge from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Santa will be there, too.
