St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 2000 Shepherd's Lane in Prescott, will host its 31st "Don't Spend Christmas Alone" community dinner on Christmas Day. This event provides a full Christmas dinner and fellowship to anyone in the tri-city communities who may be alone on this day. Homebound residents will be visited by someone delivering a meal also.
In the long history of this tradition, dinners have been served to thousands of people who would have otherwise spent Christmas alone. Last year approximately 850 people were served. Some were new to the community, others could not be with family members for various reasons, some had no homes and others simply felt alone.
Members of other congregations, social service agencies and individuals who have volunteered their services will assist members of the church. Fire personnel from the Prescott Fire Department will deliver meals to the homebound in Prescott as they have done in the past.
Shuttle transportation for those in need will leave from Albertson's in Prescott every half hour from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
For additional information, meal delivery or to volunteer for this occasion, call St. Luke's Church at 778-4499.
