Obituary: George B. Funk

George B. Funk, 87, of Prescott, Ariz., went to be with the Lord and joined his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Funk and his parents George and Martha on Saturday Dec. 3, 2011. George was born in Detroit, Mich., on July 19, 1924, he moved to Arizona in 1955 and Prescott in 2005.

George served his country in the Army (503 Airborne) in the Pacific theater during World War II and was stationed at Luke Air Force Base during the Korean War; after his retirement from the military, George enjoyed working in a number of endeavors over his lifetime. George and Carolyn spent many years serving and worshiping at First United Methodist Church in Phoenix and in later years help establish a church in Forest Lakes, Ariz. George was an outgoing, loving, loyal and trusted friend who developed long-lasting friendships everywhere he lived.

George is survived by many wonderful friends in Phoenix, Payson, Forest Lakes and Prescott.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at First United Methodist Church (Chapel), 5510 N. Central, Phoenix.

Sunrise Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
