Josette Lucienne Leray

Josette Lucienne Leray, 82, of Prescott Ariz., born on April 1, 1928, died on Sept. 20, 2010, at Rolling Hills Manor.

Josette was born in Marseilles, France, but grew up in Saigon, French Indochina, where her mother was born and her grandparents lived since 1900. She met her husband, Robert, there when they were both 15 years old. They were married in Paris after the war in 1950. Their first two children, Annick and Michel, were born in Paris. They went back to live in Vietnam until 1957 and then immigrated to this country in 1959. They lived in Culver City, Calif., for more than 40 years, where their youngest daughter, Nicole, was born. They retired in 2004 in Prescott. They were married for 60 years.

She leaves her beloved husband, Robert; her son, Michel Leray; her daughters, Annick Winkler and Nicole Davis; and five grandchildren, Christopher, Laura, Eric, Sean and Scott, who adored their precious Mamou!

She is also survived by her sisters and brother, Gabrielle Lauze, Michelle Green, Pierrette McLaws, Danielle Callahan and Gerard Jugant.

The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful ladies of Rolling Hills Manor and to Darlene Valencia of Hospice Family Care who took care of our beloved Josette with so much love during the last 15 months of her life.

A celebration of her life will be on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at her daughter's Nicole home.

They say the best presents come in small packages.... This was Josette, always a lady, full of personality and spunk, and whose family was always number one priority in her life.

We will miss her so much!
