PRESCOTT - For those who have yet to register their entries for Prescott's Christmas Parade, time is running out. The deadline for entries is Friday, Nov. 5, according to a press release from the Prescott Chamber of Commerce.
"This will be the 28th year for Prescott's annual holiday kick-off, and we want it to be the best ever," stated the press release.
The parade will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, and as in years past, the show will go on regardless of sunshine, rain or snow.
Applications are available on the Chamber website, www.prescott.org, by clicking on the parade logo on the homepage, or by calling the Chamber at 445-2000, extensions 121 or 114. The fee is $20 per entry.
Prescott's Christmas Parade draws 10,000 or more enthusiastic spectators each year, according to the Chamber press release, and is one of the highlights of the holiday season, capped off that same evening with the lighting of the courthouse plaza at 6 p.m.
The theme for this year's parade is "The Bells of Christmas," and the Chamber asks parade participants to tailor their entries to match the theme as much as possible.
The parade includes a number of different categories, with prizes awarded in each. Among the categories are: commercial; walking groups entering as marching group (musical) or marching group (non-musical); car clubs; churches; clubs and organizations (non-profit); and schools. Non-affiliated groups can enter under the non-commercial category. In addition to the other categories, parade organizers encourage school bands to enter.
A grand prize will go to the entry that best captures the parade theme.
