Letter: Event raised $36K for science education

EDITOR:

We would like to thank all those who made the second annual "Wander the Wild" dinner and auction a huge success. The event benefited the science education programs of the Highlands Center for Natural History and was on Sept. 26 at Talking Rock Ranch. More than 170 guests enjoyed a beautiful Sunday afternoon with fine food and drink while supporting a great cause through a spirited live auction. Over $36,000 was raised to underwrite the cost of our school field trip programs and provide scholarship assistance to lower income schools and youth.

We would also like to express our sincere thanks to all who contributed to make the event a big hit. Our talented and dedicated planning committee included Betsy Miller (committee chair), Loretta Bresof, Cathy Cunningham, Anita Fleming, Brenda Howard, Nanci Jensen, Gwyneth Mies, Mary Ann Mira and Barbara Rangel. Corporate sponsors included our presenting sponsor Credit Union West, Taylor & Padgett Wealth & Legacy Strategies, APS, Catalyst Architects, Prescott Residence Inn and Springhill Suites. In-kind contributions were received from Arizona Stronghold Vineyards, Painted Lady Vineyards, Manzanita Outdoor, Prescott Transportation, and Prescott Home Depot. More than 40 individuals and businesses contributed auction items related to experiencing and appreciating the outdoors. The staff at Talking Rock did an outstanding job hosting and catering the event.

On behalf of all the children that will benefit from wonder-filled outdoor science programs at the center, thank you for your generosity!
