The man who died Wednesday afternoon when the 1998 four-door Pontiac sedan he drove crashed along Prescott Lakes Parkway has been identified as Asa S. Roberts Jr., 63, of Prescott Valley, said Lt. Andy Reinhardt, spokesman for the Prescott Police.
"The car was coming from 69 on Prescott Lakes Parkway going downhill when witnesses reported the vehicle struck the guardrail a couple of times on the right side of the road," Reinhardt said. "The vehicle continued down the hill, over the median, which caused it to roll into oncoming lanes, and then went over the guardrail."
At 1:30 p.m., Prescott firefighters who answered the call found Roberts Jr. ejected from his car and dead at the scene. "The preliminary investigation indicated that no evasive action was taken by the driver, including no sign of braking," Reinhardt said. Because of that, police think the driver may have experienced a medical problem before the collision, but that won't be known until the Yavapai County Medical Examiner's Office releases its findings, Reinhardt said.
The medical examiner had not released results by late Thursday afternoon.
