Roundabout traffic shift
Widening work on Highway 89 in Chino between Center Street and Road 4 South this week will include a traffic shift at the roundabout at Road 4 South. Southbound traffic will be directed through the western portion of the roundabout and northbound traffic will continue to use the eastern portion of the roundabout.
Other traffic shifts
Another traffic shift is scheduled to occur the evening of Wednesday, March 4, between Road 4 South and Road 3 South. During the evening work hours, crews will begin to move barricades preparing for the traffic shift.
What to expect when the traffic shift occurs:
Existing southbound travel lane closed, existing median left turn lane closed, existing northbound travel lane will become the southbound travel lane and newly paved lanes will become the left turn lane and the northbound travel lane. Drivers are advised to use caution when approaching the area.
Left turn restrictions
As a result of the upcoming traffic shift, left turns will be restricted in certain areas. Crews have installed curb and gutter that will eventually shape the planned median. Since curb and gutter is already in place, traffic will only be allowed to turn left at designated points.
Designated left turn locations will be at Road 3 South, Road 4 South, Havasu Drive/Bonfire Grill Restaurant and Alvarez Discount Tire Club.
Utility relocation update
Crews are making progress relocating utilities. Unisource Energy Services have completed relocation of their gas lines, and both APS and CableOne have completed their relocations between Center Street and Road 1 South. Crews continue to work and plan to complete all utility relocations by early spring 2009.
