Obituary: Gertrude Mason Seidel

Gertrude Mason Seidel, 86, passed away at her home in Prescott, Ariz. on July 29, 2009. She was born on July 12, 1923 to Donald and Dorothy McCorkle in Warren, Ohio.

She was married and had three children. In 1948, Gertrude moved to Phoenix, Ariz. and worked at Goodyear Aerospace in Litchfield Park as a Lead Girl (a supervisory position) helping to build blimps for military use. Gertrude remarried in 1961, coming to Prescott shortly thereafter. She and her husband, John, performed cleaning services for medical doctors in the city. She retired in 2000.

Gertrude loved her family, her home and her church. She was known to be an active and energetic recreational walker and homemaker. She was also an avid seamstress.

Gertrude is survived by her husband, John Seidel; son Ron Pennell of Mead, Okla.; daughter Billie Cox of Logan, N.M.; and was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Jo Ann Clarke. She leaves behind seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, plus a great number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be announced at a later date.

Hampton Funeral home was entrusted with the arrangements.
